Operator-directed. The wg0 lifeline retired at the 2026-09-06 headscale cutover is
on no interface anywhere, so anything pointing at it gets no route at all. Homepage
went from 9 dead cards to 0 of 112.
The load-bearing part is that there is no single right target: it depends on who
resolves it. The operator's browser and the Homepage and open-webui containers on
esh-docker-vm all resolve nh3.internal, so those get the name and survive the next
renumber. Containers on irv-ml1 and ana-docker cannot resolve it at all, so those
get the IP.
litellm on ana-docker looked like a counterexample and is not: it resolves the name
only through its own extra_hosts entry, while asset-engine on the same host fails on
it. Test from the container you are about to change, never from a neighbour. Before
committing to the name I confirmed the Homepage container actually fetches ytvc's
healthz through it in production rather than assuming resolution implies reach.
On irv-ml1, 24 files swept and 14 comment-only hits left as port-allocation history.
Seven running containers recreated so the labels took. Seven dormant ones carried
stale labels because editing a compose file does not touch an existing container
object - fixed with compose create --force-recreate, which rebuilds the container
without starting it, the right tool for a deliberately dormant stack.
The sweep's real find was off irv-ml1 entirely: four live values on two other hosts,
silently dead for nine days and alerting nobody. Open WebUI's read-aloud TTS,
asset-engine's inference host, and two skaldsong TTS URLs. Both running services were
recreated and verified reaching their targets afterwards rather than merely carrying
the new string.
One self-inflicted outage worth recording: I recreated breeze-tts for a cosmetic
label change and took ext-tts down for its ~90s CUDA-graph warm-up, returning 500. I
caught it only because I had taken a baseline before touching it. A label-only edit
still costs a full model reload on a GPU container.
The 2026-09-06 headscale cutover retired irv-ml1's wg0 tunnel IP 10.100.79.3
(now 10.6.110.50). Repointed all LIVE canonical refs to the DNS NAME so the next
move can't re-break them: homepage.href/siteMonitor labels across 25 stack
composes, load-bearing env defaults (asset-engine INFERENCE_HOST, open-webui
AUDIO_TTS_OPENAI_API_BASE_URL, skaldsong SKALDSONG_TTS_BASE_URL, zonos-gateway
ZONOS_URL, dia), homepage services.yaml manual cards (Voice Design Studio,
IRV-ML1), and servers/irv-ml1/ssh-target. Updated the stale 'WG tunnel' comment
to the mesh reality.
Left as-is: README curl-examples and .env.example comments (docs), and historical
mentions in CLAUDE.md/persistent-memory. NOTE: applying the label repoints to the
RUNNING irv-ml1 containers needs a recreate per service (labels read at creation);
deployed .env values are separate from these canonical defaults.
Move the ~22-service flat "AI Systems" group off the Main tab into a new
four-tab layout (Main / AI / Infrastructure / Toolchain). The AI tab sorts
the inference fleet by function into seven groups:
AI - Inference gen, char-rp, char-rp-reasoning, Granite summarizer
AI - Eval & Retrieval Selene, Skywork Reward, Qwen3 rerank/embed, image-bench
AI - Gateways & Chat LiteLLM, Asset Engine, Gateway Chat, Open WebUI, ...
AI - Speech (TTS) Chatterbox Fast, Kokoro, mOrpheus
AI - Audio Tools Parakeet ASR, YT Voice Clipper
AI - Image & Media ComfyUI, Arbo
AI - Dormant stopped rollback seats + retired auditions
Relabel each stack's homepage.group so canonical stacks/ matches the live
containers on ana-ml2, ana-docker, and irv-ml1. Dormant stacks were refreshed
with `docker compose up --no-start` so they carry the new label while staying
stopped (compose-start rollback preserved). settings.yaml drives tab/order/
columns; services.yaml and README updated to the new scheme.
Three changes prepping infra for asset_engine's orchestration feature
(SSH-driven bring-up / bring-down of irv-ml1 inference services with
per-device VRAM gating, contract in vh/asset-engine commit 5a36f8c):
1. asset-engine compose + .env.example + playbook gain a read-only
bind-mount for /app/runtime/ssh — the dedicated ed25519 keypair
(generated on ana-docker, not in the repo) plus a pinned known_hosts
for irv-ml1's host fingerprint. Env vars SSH_KEY_PATH and
SSH_KNOWN_HOSTS are exposed for the app to consume.
2. docs/asset-engine/services.yaml gains a `lifecycle: { stack, vram_gb,
gpu_device_id }` block on each of 12 orchestratable irv-ml1 services
(kokoro, chatterbox, index-tts, qwen3-tts, cosyvoice, fish-s2,
kyutai-tts, vibevoice, voxtral, parakeet, stable-audio-open, ace-step).
VRAM numbers are estimates from model footprint at fp16 — tune from
real nvidia-smi measurements once the gate is live. comfyui and
kokoro-captioned are deliberately excluded (variable-VRAM and
shared-container respectively).
3. servers/irv-ml1/README.md docker-stacks table now lists all 13
inference stacks (was only dockge + agents + comfyui) with port +
GPU pinning columns.
Pubkey deployed to ~lkraven/.ssh/authorized_keys on irv-ml1;
end-to-end SSH from ana-docker → irv-ml1 verified with strict
host-key checking.
Internal tooling — accessed at http://10.250.50.70:8200, not through
Traefik. Removes the unused traefik labels (router rule, TLS, crowdsec
middleware, loadbalancer port) and the traefik-net network membership;
homepage.href now points at host:port for direct discovery, matching
task-board's pattern. Playbook verify drops the traefik-net membership
check.
Mirrors task-board's build-on-host pattern: elway playbook clones
vh/asset-engine into /opt/docker/build/, docker build, install compose +
seed .env, up -d, verify /health. No registry.
Internal-only tool — LAN port 8200 (bind 0.0.0.0) is primary; Traefik
labels additionally route asset-engine.phasefinal.com with TLS via the
anaprod cert resolver. DB and outputs are separate bind-mounts under
/opt/docker/conf/asset-engine/ so outputs/ can move volumes later
without touching DB state. INFERENCE_HOST defaults to 10.100.79.3
(irv-ml1 over WG). OIDC env seam is pre-allocated empty for v2.
