 Today, I had some trouble installing some pip/python packages at my colo hosted by Cogent in Anaheim.

Pip direct installs were very slow.

The problem was solved by running a local proxy on my windows machine (mitmproxy)

The following command lines for PIP were used to make it work:

```python
pip install --proxy http://10.0.10.10:8080 --trusted-host pypi.org --trusted-host pypi.python.org --trusted-host files.pythonhosted.org <package_name>
```

When using UV, set environment variables:

set environment variables  
```
HTTP_PROXY`  
`HTTPS_PROXY`  
ALL_PROXY''
```

IE:

> export ALL_PROXY=http://123.123.123.123:8080
