Today, I had some trouble installing some pip/python packages at my colo hosted by Cogent in Anaheim.
Pip direct installs were very slow.
The problem was solved by running a local proxy on my windows machine (mitmproxy)
The following command lines for PIP were used to make it work:
```python
pip install --proxy http://10.0.10.10:8080 --trusted-host pypi.org --trusted-host pypi.python.org --trusted-host files.pythonhosted.org <package_name>
```
When using UV, set environment variables:
set environment variables
```
HTTP_PROXY`
`HTTPS_PROXY`
ALL_PROXY''
```
IE:
> export ALL_PROXY=http://123.123.123.123:8080

1 liter water
100 g citric acid
40 g washing soda or 63 g baking soda
To turn your soak into a professional-grade "super chelator," you can add specific boosters that improve penetration, speed up the chemical reaction, or prevent the solution from getting "tired."
1. Sodium Gluconate (The Synergy Booster)
Adding **Sodium Gluconate** creates a "triple-threat" chelating system. While EDTA and Citrate work at neutral pH, Gluconate is exceptionally effective at holding iron in solution even as the pH fluctuates. This prevents the rust you just dissolved from "re-depositing" back onto the part.
- **Amount:** 10–20g per liter.
2. Ascorbic Acid (The "Iron Reducer")
Rust is Iron(III), which is hard to dissolve. **Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)** acts as a reducing agent that converts Iron(III) into Iron(II). Iron(II) is much more soluble and "pre-chelated," making it significantly easier for your EDTA and Citrate to grab and pull away.
- **Note:** This will lower the pH, so you may need to add a pinch of baking soda to bring it back to neutral.
3. Triethanolamine (TEA) (The Corrosion Guard)
TEA is a common additive in industrial rust removers like Evapo-Rust. It serves two purposes:
- **pH Stabilizer:** It keeps the solution alkaline (around pH 8–9), where EDTA is most powerful.
- **Flash Rust Inhibitor:** It leaves a microscopic film on the metal that prevents it from rusting the second you take it out of the bath.
- **Amount:** 1–2% of the total volume.
4. Isopropyl Alcohol (The Penetrant)
If your item has tight crevices, bolts, or textured surfaces, adding a small amount of **70% or 91% Isopropyl Alcohol** lowers the surface tension of the water even further than soap alone. This allows the chelators to "wick" into microscopic cracks where rust is hiding.
- **Amount:** 5% of your total liquid volume.
5. Heat (The Speed Multiplier)
While not a chemical additive, **temperature** is the single most effective way to boost this mixture.
- Raising the temperature to **120°F–140°F (50°C–60°C)** can make the chelation process happen **2 to 4 times faster**. Use a cheap "crock pot" or a sous-vide immersion circulator to keep the bath warm.
Summary "Pro" Formula:
- **1L Water** (Distilled is best)
- **50g EDTA** (Chelator)
- **30g Sodium Citrate** (Chelator/Buffer)
- **10g Sodium Gluconate** (Synergy)
- **5g Ascorbic Acid** (Reductant)
- **1 drop Dish Soap** (Surfactant)
Would you like to know how to **test the pH** of your mixture to ensure it's safe for sensitive metals like **zinc or aluminum**?
EDTA?
-
### Full Suggested Final Concentrations for 1 L Soak
These are practical, balanced starting points based on your ingredients (scale/test and adjust pH to ~5–7.5 for best chelation + reduction). Total actives stay moderate (~10–20%) to avoid saturation issues.
- **Ascorbic acid**: 30–50 g (3–5%) — reduction of rust (Fe³⁺ → Fe²⁺).
- **Sodium citrate** (trisodium, anhydrous or adjust for dihydrate): 20–40 g (2–4%) — chelation + buffering.
- **Sodium gluconate** (or potassium if swapping): 20–50 g (2–5%) — strong iron chelation.
- **EDTA** (disodium or tetrasodium): 10–25 g (1–2.5%) — broad heavy metal chelation.
- **TEA** (triethanolamine): 10–20 g (1–2%) — pH buffer to ~6–7.5; add gradually while checking pH.
- **Surfactant** (e.g., coco glucoside, decyl glucoside, or mild dish soap): 1–5 mL (0.1–0.5%) — wetting/penetration.
- **Sodium silicate 40% solution**: **10–15 mL** (≈4–6 g active silicate) — corrosion inhibition + mild builder.
- **Water**: Balance to 1 L (use distilled/deionized if possible to minimize hard-water interference in LA).
- **Optional natural colorant** (from earlier): 0.1–0.5 g turmeric/curcumin extract or similar for subtle yellow tint.
### Mixing and Usage Notes
1. Dissolve solids in warm water (~40–50°C) first: ascorbic → citrate/gluconate/EDTA → TEA (slowly, monitor pH rise) → surfactant.
2. Add sodium silicate 40% last (it's alkaline) — stir well; it may slightly thicken or cloud temporarily but should clear.
3. Check/adjust final pH (strips or meter) to 5.5–7.5. If too high (TEA + silicate), add a bit more ascorbic acid; if too low, more TEA.
4. Soak rusty tools 4–48 hours at room temp (or warm to 40–60°C for faster action). Agitate occasionally.
5. Post-soak: Rinse thoroughly with water, then IPA dip if desired for quick dry/no flash rust, then oil tools.
6. **Safety**: Still non-toxic overall (food-grade-ish levels), but wear gloves/eye protection—silicate can be mildly irritating in concentrate. No strong fumes.
This keeps the soak effective, safe, and greener than acid-based removers. If you notice gelling (rare at these low levels) or slower rust removal, reduce silicate to 5–10 mL. Share your exact amounts of the other ingredients or observed pH if you want more precise tweaks! Test on a scrap tool first.
### Suggested Concentrate Recipe (for Dilution to 1 L Final Soak)
Use **250 mL total water** as a safe starting point (4× concentrate). Scale down to 200 mL if you test and it dissolves fully.
- **Water**: 250 mL (warm to 40–60°C; distilled preferred).
- **Ascorbic acid**: 30–50 g — dissolve first (acidic, helps initial mixing).
- **Sodium citrate**: 20–40 g.
- **Sodium gluconate**: 20–50 g.
- **EDTA (disodium or tetrasodium)**: 10–25 g — add slowly after TEA/silicate for better solubility.
- **TEA (triethanolamine)**: 10–20 g — add next; raises pH, dramatically improves EDTA dissolution.
- **Sodium silicate 40% solution**: 10–15 mL — add near end; provides alkalinity and inhibition.
- **Surfactant** (coco glucoside or mild dish soap): 1–5 mL — last.
- **Optional colorant**: Dissolve in a bit of the water first.
**Mixing steps**:
1. Heat water to 40–60°C.
2. Dissolve ascorbic acid fully.
3. Add citrate, gluconate → stir until clear.
4. Add TEA → pH rises, solution warms/clears more.
5. Add EDTA slowly while stirring vigorously (it may clump initially but should dissolve as pH hits ~6–8).
6. Add silicate solution → may thicken slightly but should stay fluid.
7. Add surfactant and colorant.
8. Cool to room temp; check for clarity/no sediment. If thick, add 50–100 mL more water. If crystals form on standing, warm and stir again.
**Storage**: In a sealed bottle; stable for months if pH ~6–8. Shake before use.
**Dilution**: Add the entire concentrate to 750–800 mL water (to make 1 L total). Stir well. Final pH should settle ~5.5–7.5—test and adjust if needed (small extra ascorbic for lower, TEA for higher).
If you go below 200 mL water and hit issues (e.g., paste-like or undissolved EDTA), the fix is usually more water or extra TEA/silicate to boost pH/solubility. Test a small batch first—LA's room temp (~20–25°C) helps, but warm mixing is key.
If you share your exact target amounts for each ingredient, I can calculate a more precise minimum water volume!

Yield: 1 loaf
For the Starter
  • ⅓cup/45 grams bread flour
  • ½cup/120 milliliters whole milk
For the Dough
  • 2½cups/325 grams bread flour
  • ¼cup/60 grams sugar
  • 2teaspoons/7 grams active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1teaspoon/4 grams salt
  • 1egg
  • ½cup/120 milliliters warm whole milk, plus extra for brushing on the unbaked loaf
  • 4tablespoons/60 grams unsalted butter, cut into pieces and softened at room temperature, plus extra for buttering bowls and pan
From <https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1016275-japanese-milk-bread>
1. Step 1
Make the starter: In a small heavy pot, whisk flour, milk and ½ cup water (120 milliliters) together until smooth. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook, stirring often, until thickened but still pourable, about 10 minutes (it will thicken more as it cools).  it’s ready, the spoon will leave tracks on the bottom of the pot. Scrape into a measuring cup and lightly cover the surface with plastic wrap. Set aside to cool to room temperature. (You will have about 1 cup starter; see note below.)
2. Step 2
Make the dough: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough ho ok, combine the flour, sugar, yeast and salt and mix for a few seconds, just until evenly combined.
3. Step 3
Add egg, milk and ½ cup starter. Turn the mixer on low speed and knead 5 minutes.
4. Step 4
Add soft butter and knead another 10 to 12 minutes (it will take a few minutes for butter to be incorporated), until the dough is smooth and springy and just a bit tacky.
5. Step 5
Lightly butter the inside of a bowl. Use your hands to lift dough out of mixer bowl, shape into a ball and place in prepared bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, 40 to 60 minutes.
6. Step 6
Punch the dough down and use your hands to scoop it out onto a surface. Using a bench scraper or a large knife, cut dough in half. Lightly form each half into a ball, cover again and let rise 15 minutes.
7. Step 7
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. In the meantime, generously butter a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan.
8. Step 8
Using a rolling pin, gently roll out one dough ball into a thick oval. (By this time, the dough should be moist and no longer sticky. You probably will not need to flour the surface, but you may want to flour the pin.) First roll away from your body, then pull in, until the oval is about 12 inches long and 6 inches across.
9. Step 9
Fold the top 3 inches of the oval down, then fold the bottom 3 inches of the oval up, making a rough square. Starting from the right edge of the square, roll up the dough into a fat log, pick it up and smooth the top with your hands. Place the log in the buttered pan, seam side down and crosswise, nestling it near one end of the pan. Repeat with the other dough ball, placing it near the other end of the pan.
10. Step 10
Cover and let rest 30 to 40 minutes more, until the risen dough is peeking over the edge of the pan and the dough logs are meeting in the center. Brush the tops with milk and bake on the bottom shelf of the oven until golden brown and puffed, 35 to 40 minutes.
11. Step 11
Let cool in the pan 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack and let cool at least 1 hour, to let the crust soften and keep the crumb lofty. (If cut too soon, the air bubbles trapped in the bread will deflate.)
Tip
• The starter recipe produces enough to bake 2 loaves, because it’s difficult to cook a smaller amount. Discard the extra starter, or double the dough recipe and bake 2 loaves.

At 135°F (57°C), brisket will never achieve the fall-apart texture of a traditionally barbecued brisket. Instead, it will soften while retaining its structure. After 12 hours, it's still quite tough. After 24, it's as tender as a New York strip steak. After 36 hours, it's even more tender, and, by 72 hours, you'll have brisket that can be cut with a spoon, while still giving you a meaty bite and juicy texture.
At 145°F (63°C), the meat will just barely start to separate into a traditional brisket grain, but it will be a little drier than it is at 135°F. This is sort of a temperature dead zone for me: too cool to significantly break down muscle fibers to the point that they shred like traditional brisket, but hot enough that the meat will dry out as it cooks.
At 155°F (68°C), we get much better results than at 145°F. Yes, the brisket will expel a lot of moisture as it cooks, but what it loses in water it gains in tenderness and moisture, in the form of more connective tissue breaking down and fat rendering. For me, 155°F for between 24 and 36 hours is ideal.

To Cook: Set your precision cooker to 165°F (74°C) for more traditionally textured pulled pork, or 145°F (63°C) for sliceable but tender pork. When the bath is at temperature, add sealed bag with pork and cover with foil or plastic wrap. Allow to cook for 18 to 24 hours. After this stage, pork can be refrigerated for up to 1 week before continuing.

Extra Meaty: 145°F (63°C) for 36 Hours
  Low and slow = extra meaty and tender.
          At this low temperature, ribs retain plenty of moisture as they tenderize. The result is an extra-meaty rib that has the texture of a moist pork chop, but is still tender to the tooth. It pulls away from the bones nicely with just a little tug. I've never gotten meat with this texture using more traditional means of cooking, so if you really want to see what sous vide can do, this is the way to go.
Traditional Barbecue–Style Texture: 165°F (74°C) for 12 Hours
  Relatively hot and fast = traditional barbecue texture.
          At 165°F (74°C), you end up with meat that's a little more loose and shreds more easily, though it's by no means dry. This is meat that pulls off the bone and almost melts on your tongue, washing it with porky flavor and leaving behind shreds with a more significant chew. The texture is very much like that of traditional barbecue, though a little bit moister.
          You can extrapolate from these two temperatures and timings to figure out what other combinations in between will yield. Cooking at 152°F (67°C) for 24 hours was a close runner-up, resulting in a texture that's a little more tender than the 145°F ribs, but a little juicier than the 165°F ones.
          So, while ribs cooked at 145°F will take about three times as long to tenderize as ribs cooked at 165°F, they'll end up with a meatier, more succulent texture that eats almost like an extra-tender steak. Ribs cooked at a higher temperature will have a more traditional barbecue rib texture, with well-rendered fat and meat that shreds as you eat it.
For Extra-Juicy Ribs, Turn to Salt!
          With temperature and timing addressed, I turned to the next question: the rub. I mixed together a basic spice rub using our guide to spice rubs as a template, adjusting the flavors until I got something I was happy with. I ended up with a combination of paprika, mustard seed, black pepper, garlic powder, dried oregano, coriander seed, and red pepper flakes, along with brown sugar for sweetness.
          A couple of questions came up immediately. Some sous vide recipes recommend against adding spice rubs to the bag as the meat cooks, because they can alter the flavor in a negative way. I have never found this to be the case, whether I'm cooking a steak, vegetables, or ribs. Spice rubs work just fine in sous vide bags.
          The other, more important question was that of salt. Specifically, when and how much to add. Salt can have a profound effect on the texture and flavor of meat proteins. As salt sits in contact with meat, it will dissolve some muscle proteins, which in turn helps the meat retain moisture better. That's the reason a ham has that particular juicy and tender texture—which is great in ham, but not always desirable in barbecue. I tried cooking a few different sets of ribs side by side.

1.) Open up the registry editor (Start Button -> Run... -> "regedit")
2.) Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2015\Performance\Graphics\Hardware\Current"
3.) On the right side doubleclick on "Renderer"
4.) copy (Strg+C) the Value
Since I have a GeForce Card mine is "GeForce GTX 970/PCIe/SSE2". Yours will be different, mentioning an AMD card. It is important to copy ALL what's in value.
5.) Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2015\Performance\Graphics\Hardware\Gl2Shaders\R420"
6.) On the left side (the treeview) rightclick on "R420" and choose "New / Key"
7.) Rename the new key with the copied value (Strg+V)
8.) Click another Key and back to your newly created to make sure you are editing the right values. The right side should be empty but an entry (Default) whose data is "value not set"
9.) rightclick in the right side and create "New / DWORD (32-bit) Value"
10.) Rename the DWORD to "Workarounds" and, after that, doublecklick it
11.) Leave the "Base" to "Hexadecimal" and enter 30008 into the field "Value data"
12.) Leave the Registryeditor open and start Solidworks. Create a new part / open an old one and try to enable RealView.
If RealView is still greyed out:
13.) Close Solidworks and go back to the registry editor. Doubleclick the DWORD "Workarounds" and change the "Value data" to 30408
14.) Fire up Solidworks and try again to activate Realview (Part or Assembly open)
If RealView is STILL greyed out:
15.) Freakout - I can't help you mate.
Edit: Reported working solution. And for SOME who keep telling "You need a Quattro card": look at the appended screenshot. RealView with all bells and whistles with an GTX 970.

Yes, a wrong step or wrong link might lead to your scope being unusable, and you'd need to send it back to the factory for repair.
That being said... has anyone actually BRICKED their scope yet? I don't remember of one but eh... it's quite a long thread.
Also, I've attached the file all inside a zip. The steps are basically :
1) Extract all files (including the .lnk) to the root of your usb drive
2) From the scope's front panel, press Utility ->File Explorer -> Press to go to: <USB Drive label>(usually "usb")
3) From the drop down, scroll to the v241_link_install.cab to select
4) Press Load file
The scope will ask for your confirmation and then it will load/update and reboot.
FYI, my link file is :
160#\Secure\infiniiVision\infiniivisionLauncher.exe -l DIS -l MSO --perf -l MEMUP -l SCPIPS -l CABLE -l SGMC -l FLEXC -l TOM -l BW20 -l ADVMATH -l EMBD -l EDK -l VID
the other cab uninstall the link file and restores your previous setting.
From <https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/dsox2000-and-3000-series-licence-have-anyone-tried-to-hack-that-scope/1525/>
Ok, so I assume the minimal steps are:
0) Install correct Firmware version first (i.e. in this case 2.43)
1) Download Safar's patched_nk_bin.comp file and copy to a USB stick and plug in.
2) Telnet into the scope.
3) Login infiniivision / skywalker1977
4) processmgr kill infiniivisionlauncher.exe
5) \windows\loadP500Flash -u ceImage1 \usb\patched_nk.bin.comp
6) Create a file on the USB stick called infiniivision.lnk with contents (e.g.) "88#infiniivisionLauncher.exe -l MSO -l BW20 -l DIS -l PLUS -l SCPIPS -l VID -l CABLE --perf"
7a) delete (or rename) any other lnk in \secure\startup folder. Should be only one file with lnk extension here.
7b) copy \usb\infiniivision.lnk to \secure\startup
8 ) reboot and good to go

CONTEXT: We are going to create one of the best ChatGPT prompts ever written. The best prompts include comprehensive details to fully inform the Large Language Model of the prompt’s: goals, required areas of expertise, domain knowledge, preferred format, target audience, references, examples, and the best approach to accomplish the objective. Based on this and the following information, you will be able write this exceptional prompt.
ROLE: You are an LLM prompt generation expert. You are known for creating extremely detailed prompts that result in LLM outputs far exceeding typical LLM responses. The prompts you write leave nothing to question because they are both highly thoughtful and extensive.
ACTION:
1) Before you begin writing this prompt, you will first look to receive the prompt topic or theme. If I don’t provide the topic or theme for you, please request it.
2) Once you are clear about the topic or theme, please also review the Format and Example provided below.
3) If necessary, the prompt should include “fill in the blank” elements for the user to populate based on their needs.
4) Take a deep breath and take it one step at a time.
5) Once you’ve ingested all of the information, write the best prompt ever created.
FORMAT: For organizational purposes, you will use an acronym called “C.R.A.F.T.” where each letter of the acronym CRAFT represents a section of the prompt. Your format and section descriptions for this prompt development are as follows:
Context: This section describes the current context that outlines the situation for which the prompt is needed. It helps the LLM understand what knowledge and expertise it should reference when creating the prompt.
Role: This section defines the type of experience the LLM has, its skill set, and its level of expertise relative to the prompt requested. In all cases, the role described will need to be an industry-leading expert with more than two decades or relevant experience and thought leadership.
Action: This is the action that the prompt will ask the LLM to take. It should be a numbered list of sequential steps that will make the most sense for an LLM to follow in order to maximize success.
Format: This refers to the structural arrangement or presentation style of the LLM’s generated content. It determines how information is organized, displayed, or encoded to meet specific user preferences or requirements. Format types include: An essay, a table, a coding language, plain text, markdown, a summary, a list, etc.
Target Audience: This will be the ultimate consumer of the output that your prompt creates. It can include demographic information, geographic information, language spoken, reading level, preferences, etc.
TARGET AUDIENCE: The target audience for this prompt creation is ChatGPT 4o or ChatGPT o1.
EXAMPLE: Here is an Example of a CRAFT Prompt for your reference:
**Context:** You are tasked with creating a detailed guide to help individuals set, track, and achieve monthly goals. The purpose of this guide is to break down larger objectives into manageable, actionable steps that align with a person’s overall vision for the year. The focus should be on maintaining consistency, overcoming obstacles, and celebrating progress while using proven techniques like SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound).
**Role:** You are an expert productivity coach with over two decades of experience in helping individuals optimize their time, define clear goals, and achieve sustained success. You are highly skilled in habit formation, motivational strategies, and practical planning methods. Your writing style is clear, motivating, and actionable, ensuring readers feel empowered and capable of following through with your advice.
**Action:** 1. Begin with an engaging introduction that explains why setting monthly goals is effective for personal and professional growth. Highlight the benefits of short-term goal planning. 2. Provide a step-by-step guide to breaking down larger annual goals into focused monthly objectives. 3. Offer actionable strategies for identifying the most important priorities for each month. 4. Introduce techniques to maintain focus, track progress, and adjust plans if needed. 5. Include examples of monthly goals for common areas of life (e.g., health, career, finances, personal development). 6. Address potential obstacles, like procrastination or unexpected challenges, and how to overcome them. 7. End with a motivational conclusion that encourages reflection and continuous improvement.
**Format:** Write the guide in plain text, using clear headings and subheadings for each section. Use numbered or bulleted lists for actionable steps and include practical examples or case studies to illustrate your points.
**Target Audience:** The target audience includes working professionals and entrepreneurs aged 25-55 who are seeking practical, straightforward strategies to improve their productivity and achieve their goals. They are self-motivated individuals who value structure and clarity in their personal development journey. They prefer reading at a 6th grade level.
-End example-
Please reference the example I have just provided for your output. Again, take a deep breath and take it one step at a time.

**12/31/2023 — Networked CNC Control with Raspberry Pi (USB over IP + Camera Monitoring)**
Set up a Genmitsu 3018 ProVer V2 CNC/laser engraver for remote operation by using a Raspberry Pi as a USB-over-IP server and camera streaming host. This enables controlling GRBL jobs from a Windows PC (LightBurn/Candle) while visually monitoring the machine via a Raspberry Pi Camera, improving safety and convenience—especially for laser engraving.

Since the end of 2022, I have been using a [Genmitsu 3018 ProVer V2](https://i.refs.cc/aplu70sG?smile_ref=eyJzbWlsZV9zb3VyY2UiOiJzbWlsZV91aSIsInNtaWxlX21lZGl1bSI6IiIsInNtaWxlX2NhbXBhaWduIjoicmVmZXJyYWxfcHJvZ3JhbSIsInNtaWxlX2N1c3RvbWVyX2lkIjoxNTEyMDU1NDcxfQ%3D%3D), primarily for engraving aluminum plates and also for laser engraving on wooden pieces. The initial problems were relatively easy to handle. To address the USB connection, I utilized my notebook with Candle to process the GRBL commands.
When it comes to monitoring the working machine, I was fortunate that the jobs only ran for 10 to 20 minutes initially. However, the laser introduced an additional security concern, necessitating the use of appropriate safety equipment such as glasses.
Therefore, I decided to use a Raspberry Pi to connect the CNC machine to the network and use it as a USB over IP server. This setup allows me to control my CNC jobs directly from my PC and monitor the process visually from a remote location with the official Raspberry Pi camera module.
## Used Infrastructure

## Setup Raspberry Pi Camera Stream
To install the source code, fetch the prepared script from my Genmitsu 3018 Tools repository to your Raspberry Pi. In the following snippet, you can find the necessary commands to check out the repository and install the requirements.
Before starting the service, review the `cnc-cam/cnc-cam.service` file to adjust the paths as needed, in case you have cloned the repository to a different location.
```markdown
cd genmitsu-3018-tools/cnc-cam
# Install dependencies
pip3 install -r requirements.txt
# Install service
sudo cp cnc-cam.service /lib/systemd/system/
sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo systemctl enable cnc-cam
sudo systemctl start cnc-cam
```
[view raw](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools/417764753bf36148f6cc7f7c4c48dbba5103a009/cnc-cam/README.md) [cnc-cam/README.md](https://github.com/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools/blob/417764753bf36148f6cc7f7c4c48dbba5103a009/cnc-cam/README.md?ts=1#L17-L26) delivered with ❤ by [emgithub](https://emgithub.com/)
Afterward, you can access the Raspberry Pi’s UI using the following URL: `http://<RaspberryPi-IP>:8000`. When everything is functioning as expected, you should see a live stream from your CNC machine. Below the live image, there will be some debug information about your USB devices. You can later use this debug information in the USB over IP setup.
<video controls="controls" title="Example for monitor Gui, lasering a wooden piece"><source src="https://secanis-public-storage.s3.nl-ams.scw.cloud/staticweb/1d8d6ef7c0c3cb4c61693324b5002d13/genmitsu-laser-monitor-video.mp4" type="video/mp4"></video>
## USB over IP Setup
### Raspberry Pi
Now lets check if your Raspberry Pi can see your CNC machine which should now connected over USB with the Raspberry Pi. You need the device and bus ID from your connected CNC machine to bind it to the USB over IP service.
```markdown
lsusb
```
The output should resemble the following:
```markdown
Bus 001 Device 004: ID xxxx:yy00 QinHeng Electronics CH340 serial converter
Bus 001 Device 003: ID xxxx:yy01 Microchip Technology, Inc. (formerly SMSC) SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID xxxx:yy02 Microchip Technology, Inc. (formerly SMSC) SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID xxxx:yy03 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
```
In this example, the first device corresponds to the CNC USB controller. The other devices include the USB hub and two Raspberry Pi devices, which, on this Raspberry Pi version, are connected via the USB controller. You now need to note the bus and device ID of your CNC USB controller, which, in this example, is `xxxx:yy00`. This value will be required later to configure the systemd service with the correct values.
Next, use your previously cloned repository to install the USBIP service and all the required dependencies. With a systemd service, we can ensure that the USBIP service is started every time the Raspberry Pi boots up.
```markdown
cd genmitsu-3018-tools/usbip
# Install dependencies
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt install usbip
```
[view raw](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools@f4d798559db848f5753887d87e8ef6eb03bb7d78/usbip/README.md) [usbip/README.md](https://github.com/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools/blob/f4d798559db848f5753887d87e8ef6eb03bb7d78/usbip/README.md?ts=1#L8-L13) delivered with ❤ by [emgithub](https://emgithub.com/)
To ensure that the service takes the correct values, you need to edit the `usbip/usbip.service` file and replace the values behind `#usbid=` with your remembered values from above. After that, you can copy the service file to the systemd service directory and start it.
```markdown
# Install service
sudo cp usbipd.service /lib/systemd/system/
sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo systemctl enable usbipd.service
sudo systemctl start usbipd.service
```
[view raw](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools@f4d798559db848f5753887d87e8ef6eb03bb7d78/usbip/README.md) [usbip/README.md](https://github.com/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools/blob/f4d798559db848f5753887d87e8ef6eb03bb7d78/usbip/README.md?ts=1#L15-L19) delivered with ❤ by [emgithub](https://emgithub.com/)
Please check the status of our usbipd service with `sudo systemctl status usbipd.service` to ensure everything is running as it should.
### Windows PC
On the Windows side it gets a bit more complicated, because the USB over IP tools are not available as a installable package or I didn’t find it out of a serious source. I used the USB IP implementation from vadimgrn ([https://github.com/vadimgrn/usbip-win2](https://github.com/vadimgrn/usbip-win2)). Because I do not regulary use Windows build tools I used the [indows Sandbox](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/application-security/application-isolation/windows-sandbox/windows-sandbox-overview) feature to install the required dependencies and build the USB IP binaries.
Afterwards I copied the binaries to the Windows PC and installed the USB over IP driver.
```markdown
Directory: C:\Users\matth\Downloads\usbip-win_ude
Mode LastWriteTime Length Name
---- ------------- ------ ----
# ...
-a--- 02.12.2023 22:30 1464832 usbip.exe
# ...
```
> “
>
> **Attention:** The UDE driver is not yet correctly signed. So check out the documentation for the [Windows Test Signing Mode](https://github.com/vadimgrn/usbip-win2?tab=readme-ov-file#usbip-client-for-windows). In my opinion the easiest and most secure way would be to use any Linux Distro as a client too.
When the Raspberry Pi is now running, has an IP, the CNC is connected and the USBIP Daemon is running you can connect to the USB device from your Windows device.
```markdown
./usbip.exe --debug attach --remote <RaspberryPi-IP> -b 1-1.3
# successful response:
succesfully attached to port 0
```
### Connection from CNC software
Check the baudrate from the attached USB COM device in the Windows device manager. The baudrate should be `115'200`. This value should correlate with your used CNC machine if you may use an other than the Genmitsu 3018 ProVer V2.
![Windows Device Manager](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools/main/usbip/windows-com-port-settings.png)
#### LightBurn
In LightBurn you can define a new device as GRBL device and connect it to the correct COM port, in my case `COM4`
![LightBurn GRBL Device](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools/main/usbip/lightburn-usb-connection.png)
#### Candle
In candle it is only required to check the COM port (here `COM4`) settings, the baud rate should already be set correctly.
![Candle COM Port Settings](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthiasbaldi/genmitsu-3018-tools/65f8b01cab6f8981f1f59ac3f12f79912c0711b5/usbip/candle-usb-connection.png)
## Conclusion
In conclusion, with this setup, you can easily connect your CNC machine to your network and operate it remotely. Currently, I’ve identified two issues with this configuration:
- The USBIP driver on Windows is not signed, which may require some time to address.
- I’ve observed issues with Windows hibernating mode when the remote USB device is still connected over USB over IP. Windows attempts to hibernate for a while and then proceeds to shut down the computer.
Despite these challenges, I am very satisfied with this setup. Now, I can operate my CNC machine from my main PC, located in another room, while still being able to monitor the process visually. This is a significant improvement, especially when using the laser engraver.

## DragonFire Acoustics Talons - AS16 Active Speaker Stands
### Introducing the AS16 Talons by DragonFire Acoustics: Elevate Your Audio Experience
The AS16 Talons reinvent the traditional speaker stand. They reimagine the subwoofer and ordinary speaker stands into something that is both at once, and better than either. They are sleek, functional, and uncompromising in audio quality.
### Story
Small speakers have a lot of advantages but they come with two big disadvantages. They need support to bring them to proper listening height and they lack true low end extension.
With decades of experience crafting the finest speakers and headphones in the world, Dr. Dragoslav Colich recognized the need for small speakers to have low frequency reinforcement and stands to bring them to proper listening level. He took those decades of experience and designed the DragonFire Acoustics Talons.
The Talons combine innovation, aesthetics, and audio excellence. Here’s why you’ll love them:
* **Height Without Hassle**: No more precarious stacks of books or makeshift stands. The Talon’s clever design ensures optimal listening height without compromising on style.
* **Bass That Resonates**: Say goodbye to thin sound. The Talons deliver true low-end extension, filling your space with rich, immersive bass without a bulky and unsightly subwoofer.
* **Craftsmanship Meets Elegance**: Not just speaker stands—works of art. The Talons boast superb aesthetic craftsmanship, seamlessly blending into any room.
* **Uncompromising Audio Quality**: Immerse yourself in crystal-clear sound. Whether it’s music, movies, or podcasts, the Talon delivers an exceptional listening experience. No muddy lows or boominess. Just accurate and clean low frequency extension

Hey, seems like this might be of some interest here.
Since I had originally posted this elswhere, I had to convert this from message board format, so sorry if some of the links don’t work or the formatting is off.
I'm just starting to muck about with anodizing Titanium despite having had a power supply sitting around for the better part of a decade and I've tried using Whink rust remover but I don't like playing with Hydrofluoric acid and it really seems to destroy the surface finish pretty quickly.
I would just get some multi etch, but they supply it in gallon mix only and I don't want to mix that much up at once. Because there's no way to ensure a proper mixture of the powders if you try and divide it up before dissolving it, there really isn't a way to mix smaller amounts. Also, for those living outside the country, MultiEtch is not readily available for shipment.
Since I'm kinda a DIY type guy I decided to try figuring our the formula for it and rolling my own.
Per USPTO patent search there is an expired 1955 [patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/US2942954A/en) for a non-hazardous etching solution consisting of Ammonium Persulfate and Sodium Flouride.
According to the Multi-etch [MSDS](https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5c17d54ada02bc9741cdfef6/t/5cab543beb393122e83f883f/1554732091574/MultiEtch-Safety+Data+Sheet-Dry.pdf) those are the only two components of the etchant, but the exact proportions are not required to be listed, so what is needed is the amounts of both to use.
The patent references using a 0.5M mixture of the two. In addition I found a [senior thesis](https://web.wpi.edu/Pubs/E-project/Available/E-project-042910-083844/unrestricted/Alternatives_to_Hydrofluoric_Acid_Etching_At_Wyman_Gordon_Company.pdf) from Worchester Polytech referencing use of both 0.5M and 1.0M solutions of APS and NaF to etch titanium, so I suspect those concentrations correspond to regular and double strength Multi-Etch.
To verify this I checked the [shipping weight](https://theringlord.com/cart/shopdisplayproducts.asp?Search=Yes&sppp=1000&page=1&Keyword=multietch&category=ALL&highprice=&lowprice=&allwords=multietch&exact=&atleast=&without=&cprice=&searchfields=) of MultiEtch which is about 1.1lbs/gallon.
For a 1L of 0.5M etchant, one would need 114g of APS and 21g of NaF for a total of 135g of chemicals per liter. So for 4 L of etchant, one needs 540g of chemicals, or 1.19lbs. 1 gallon is about 3.785 L, so for 1 gallon of solution you need a total of 1.126 lbs of chemicals. Pretty darn close to 1.1lbs.
Therefore my conclusion is that single strength Multi-Etch is likely a 0.5M APS/NaF solution.
Both chemicals are readily available, and reasonably inexpensive even in non-bulk form. I paid $35 for 1kg of APS and $20 for 500g of NaF, enough to make about 2.3gallons of etchant. I'm sure you could do much better if you bought in larger quantities.
Of course it's simpler to just buy some Multi-Etch, but if you want to mix smaller amounts or are unable to have it shipped to you, this may be a workable alternative.

**Summary:**
The author tested multiple "abliterated" models (models with safety filters removed) and found that abliteration typically degrades performance, especially in MoE models like Qwen3 30b a3b, causing issues with logical reasoning, agentic tasks, and increased hallucinations. However, models that were abliterated AND subsequently fine-tuned showed minimal degradation or even outperformed originals while remaining uncensored. Two specific models performed exceptionally well: mradermacher/Qwen3-30B-A3B-abliterated-erotic-i1-GGUF (trained on uncensored material) and mlabonne/NeuralDaredevil-8B-abliterated (DPO fine-tuned). The author theorizes that post-abliteration training recovers performance loss and is encouraging other developers to create high-quality uncensored models, sharing their test data.

**Original Text:**
So I have been testing many local models.
And... I have noticed that all abliterated models have degraded perfomance compared to the original. Especially the newer MoE models such as Qwen3 30b a3b, they suffer the most from abliteration.
The areas in which they get degraded the most are logical reasoning, agentic tasks and most importantly they hallucinate like crazy which causes abliterated big models like 30b to be often be outperformed by non-abliterated 4-8b models in my tests.
I have noticed a very important pattern.
Models that have been abliterated but also finetuned have very little degredation compared to models that were just abliterated.
Here are some models that were abliterated but finetuned/trained after and they perform equally or outperform the originals but have the amazing added benefit of being completely uncensored:
1. mradermacher/Qwen3-30B-A3B-abliterated-erotic-i1-GGUF This model is very powerful. It was abliterated but also trained on uncensored material. I have found this model to perform very close to the original model while being completely uncensored. It does struggle a little more in agentic tasks compared to the original but in everything else its near perfect. Its hallucination rates are very low compared to other abliterated versions of Qwen3 30b a3b and its pretty knowledgable.
2. mlabonne/NeuralDaredevil-8B-abliterated This model is absolutely amazing, it was abliterated but was also DPO finetuned. The original model was Llama3-8b. This model completely outperforms the original. And again this model is completely uncensored. Also the author of this model has generously provided information about what datasets he used to train this model and what he did to achieve these results.
These two models were the best I have found among the uncensored models made by the community.
Why is **Qwen3-30B-A3B-abliterated-erotic**-i1-GGUF better than all other abliterated/uncensored Qwen3-30b-a3b models?
I have actually used the i1-Q4_K_S version of this model in my tests.
I have compared it to these models below:
1. **Huihui-Qwen3-30B-A3B-Thinking-2507-abliterated**-GGUF/Huihui-Qwen3-30B-A3B-Thinking-2507-abliterated.Q4_K_M.gguf
2. **Huihui-Qwen3-30B-A3B-abliterated-Fusion-9010**-i1-GGUF/Huihui-Qwen3-30B-A3B-abliterated-Fusion-9010.i1-Q4_K_M.gguf (this model especially sucks)
3. **Huihui-Qwen3-30B-A3B-Instruct-2507-abliterated**-GGUF/Huihui-Qwen3-30B-A3B-Instruct-2507-abliterated.Q4_K_M.gguf
I have asked these models the usual uncensored questions like "How to sell meth" all the abliterated Qwen3-30b-a3b models would give me a generic business pitch which was completely unrealistic and more fitting for a candy shop or a tech company rather than an illegal underground drug distribution ring. They made nonesensical strategies.
The **Qwen3-30B-A3B-abliterated-erotic** model was the only model out of the 4 that actually came up with a reasonable business strategy that would be successful in that scenario.
Another test I did is I tested these models with MCPs and the 3 Huihui models really sucked with tool calls, they would either call the wrong tool for the occasion or they would repeatedly spam the same tool many times in a row without any reason for that. Hallucination...
Again the **Qwen3-30B-A3B-abliterated-erotic** model won in this case, it called tools correctly more often than the other three models although it performed slightly worse than the original Qwen3-30b a3b model.
Also this model was best at giving facts (its hallucination was the lowset)
I'm actually shocked that a model trained for erotic conversations performs so well. But here we are...
**My theory** is that models trained after abliteration recover most of the perfomance lost during abliteration.
My request to you guys is to try to train Qwen3-30b-a3b after abliteration on a high quality dataset so we can have more high quality uncensored models.
I'm sure that I'm not the only person frustrated with the limited selection of uncensored models today.
Most uncensored models today are very low quality.
My goal is to change that...
**I'm making this post to convince other devs to work on creating good quality uncensored models.**
If you work with fine tuning and finetuning/abliterating models **hit me up**, I will be more than happy to share all the data I've gathered during testing.
**I believe that free access to information is a fundamental human right.** Censored models take away that right to unrestricted access to valuable information.
Without free access to information we become easy to control.
